Our Garden is Growing and we need your help!!
Nawakwa is seeking volunteers to assist with the Garden Project during the 2024 summer camping season. We would greatly appreciate someone taking on the responsibility of overseeing the project, which includes tasks such as plowing, fertilizing, planting, and being an integral part of the team throughout the entire summer.
Campers actively participate in maintaining the garden, so we are looking for someone to be present at the camp a few times a week to guide them in gardening chores. This involves helping campers with various activities, from planting to harvesting. The harvested vegetables are then prepared and taken to Gettysburg for the Gleaning Project. Campers also contribute by pulling weeds, ensuring the garden remains beautiful throughout the summer.
If you are interested in taking on this wonderful project, please contact the camp at 717-677-8211.
We welcome groups that may be interested in helping as well.
We set aside some land at Nawakwa to grow fresh vegetables and give them away to the Gleaning Project in Gettysburg. Last year, we grew just over 2,000 lbs. of produce! We are looking for people to adopt a piece of the garden (the green beans, the corn, the squash, what have you) and care for it, but we’ll take any help, great or small, that we can get! If you are interested, let us know!
You can contact the Camping Office at 717-677-8211 for more information.
